Potosi ? this name stands for centuries of abuse and exploitation of children in Bolivia. Countless millions have died in the silver mines. Even today the number of working children in Bolivia is estimated at 600,000, and many of them live on the streets.

Imagine these children are taken to a place where they can start a new life and future in a family atmosphere with excellent housing conditions. That is a radically different perspective compared to the tradition of poverty and exploitation.

This dream is coming true in a village approx. 200 km away from Potosi, 10 km outside of Sucre, Bolivia?s true capital. On April 26th, 2006, TOS Ministries International bought a former luxury hotel which is currently transformed into a transformation center for street children.
With its spacious grounds, the property offers everything a child needs for a happy childhood. There is room enough for class rooms and workshops. The facility offers housing for at least 80 children. The administration in Sucre has already welcomed the project and promised all necessary support.

In January 2008, the Hanselmann family moved to Sucre in order to support our co-workers Monika Neff and Susanne Puschke. It was also in January and February that six former street children found a new home and a new family in the transformation center there. In the first stage, we want to take up to 20 children to live with us.
End of February, school started for the children of the transformation center as well. Lucia Hanselmann, who is an accredited teacher for special education, is the supervisor of the "Centro Educativo Los Transformadores".
